I See The Light (1st Place)

Image
I See The Light Zahra M.Khuzaima Zariwala 2BF I sit among the wild. The grass envelopes me. My stare goes vacantly to the stars, As dark approaches in glee.   Even among the silence, My mind whirs with noise. The quiet that surrounds me, Gives my thoughts a voice.   “Have you ever thought?” She asks, The strangeness of the mind. The little space where I live,   Where silence is left behind.   She starts to think of mankind, The constant crossroads at hand, How every choice has a consequence. Whether it be good or bad.   She asks, “How strange is it?” That one's choice is never theirs, At every turn, some other voice Meddles in their affairs.     Some attractive side that is seen, A previous wrong choice chosen, A different opinion held by another, Meddles in their affairs.   Now in this stressful world, Full of choices to be made, How does one find some peace? If not only for a day?   She asks, remember being a child? The blissful ignora...

Retrouvaille (2nd Place)

Retrouvaille A short story Zainab Mustaali Sutterwala  23766 The only thing that kept moving in the traffic was the meter of the taxi, so we  decided to walk the remaining way and save our money. We asked “H ow much?” but the driver only lip synced to the noise of the honks; s omehow we managed to comprehend him. They say, "Mumbai traffic is like a  game of Tetris" and I could not agree more. Like the tiles in  the game, my friend and I dodged the fast-moving automobiles to fit into the  spaces perfectly, trying to move forward gradually. Claustrophobia had seized my mind and the background music orchestrated by the  accompaniment of all these horns was not in harmony either. Moreover, the  sun that day had decided to beam its rays upon us,  causing our pores to burst, and douse us completely with sweat. At last, we reached the gates of our desired destination and quickly stepped in  to get away from the tumult outside. We stared at the magni...

LE SOURIRE (3rd Place)

Image
LE SOURIRE The Smile  Fatema Khumusi A million things, there to say A million thoughts, night and day A million miles far away Is the state, of being ‘kay’   A fiery storm raging within Chaos dancing under the skin Fear, anger, agony, and despair All bottled up as one in there   No one else could hear the yells The anguish, hidden, though it swells Being ripped apart, pulled a thousand ways The mind in mayhem, forever stays     Yet, amidst the havoc, tranquility is found Which, to the mind, is a soothing sound A moment of peace, a curve on the lips A smile, no cloud could ever eclipse   A smile that cools down the rage A smile that opens up the cage A smile that is music to the ears A smile that drives away the fears   It shines to say, despite the turmoil In a mind that shall never uncoil Peace and calm can always be sought with the ray of hope, a ‘piece’ of thought

THE BODY’S BATTLE (Runner up)

Image
THE BODY’S BATTLE FATEMA ST.MARY 24630    POEM ; EXTENDED METAPHOR         On the lands of Boxody a war waged Leaving the fertile grounds ravaged    A conflict instigated it all, When compelled to make a decision; consequential. Each tried to claim its domain. The Mindies wanted to dictate, the beginning of bane. But the Heartys rebelled, furious and fuming; Hence the battle got blazing.     Where once calm would lead , havoc ruled. Where stability and strength did prevail, uncertainty governed. Where happiness and joy once charged the air, A vacuum was created by deadly despair.     When slaughter and struggle bore no fruits When everything dear, they were soon to lose. The battalions raised a familiar fair flag. Got together, and signed a truce   They pledged to kill their egos and not to brag.   Alas, what is attained? When the two superpowers strike a bargain Finally, harmony is sustained And “Peace of Mind” reign...

HOW DO YOU DEFINE THE PEACE OF MIND?

Image
HOW DO YOU DEFINE THE PEACE OF MIND?  Mariyah Zohair Indorewala  25864 How do you define the peace of mind? Is it in staying quite or becoming blind? Is it being rich and buying jewels that shine? Or the expensive, sumptuous food we dine? As described by tourists is it observed in nature? According to history’s author is peace legislature? Or as ethnocentrism claims, is it really the culture? And lastly verbalized by the zoophilic is it in creature. While discovering the address of peace, brains gets paralyzed It’s impossible to discover, later it’s criticized Slowdown, take a pause, the respected heart advised Don’t make that an issue! For that the brain apologized. There I loaded my truck with everything I own Ordered to move up the gears, even though a blizzard had blown Been awake for nights I taunted myself “hello”? In a worried tone Still in search of peace! even after crossing borders all alone? Nevertheless, with determination, I decided not to stop This journey will p...

My Journey to the world/world of PEACE!

My Journey to the world/world of PEACE BATOOL SHK YOUSUF 23756 A short story of a seeking mind exploring the world/word of PEACE Style of writing - story with a touch of poetry here and there What is PEACE of Mind! In the midst of this widely spread pandemic that has enveloped the world in its horrifying embrace, I sought out to perceive the significance of the peace of mind. I saw how everyone around me is in search of some kind of inner peace. While some are lucky enough to  find it, others spend most of their lives just in search of it, but sadly, they never completely grasp the definition of what inner peace is and thus, they fail to attain the peace of mind. I found that every single person and religion has their own personalized form of peace Peace is like a religion in superhuman form, who or which is believed by people following all kinds of faiths. All religions are looking for this simple notion in their sacrifices, Beliefs and practices that is to achieve the uttermost p...
