THE BODY’S BATTLE (Runner up)

THE BODY’S BATTLE

FATEMA ST.MARY 24630

POEM ; EXTENDED METAPHOR

On the lands of Boxody a war waged

Leaving the fertile grounds ravaged

A conflict instigated it all,

When compelled to make a decision; consequential.

Each tried to claim its domain.

The Mindies wanted to dictate, the beginning of bane.

But the Heartys rebelled, furious and fuming;

Hence the battle got blazing.

Where once calm would lead , havoc ruled.

Where stability and strength did prevail, uncertainty governed.

Where happiness and joy once charged the air,

A vacuum was created by deadly despair.

When slaughter and struggle bore no fruits

When everything dear, they were soon to lose.

The battalions raised a familiar fair flag.

Got together, and signed a truce

They pledged to kill their egos and not to brag.

Alas, what is attained?

When the two superpowers strike a bargain

Finally, harmony is sustained

And “Peace of Mind” reigns.

Boxody : body

Mindies : mind

Heartys : heart

Superpowers : mind and heart
